Every day I bring joy to my family, my friends, my coworkers, and my community. I love them effortlessly and unconditionally. I work hard to help other people. I laugh with my friends. I live a full life. Never feel sorry for me, I am exactly how God made me, and He did it perfectly.
March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day. A day to raise awareness about this superpower caused by the presence of an extra 21st chromosome. Get it 3-21.
Down Syndrome Day highlights the unique abilities and accomplishments of people with Down Syndrome. Adults with Down Syndrome can lead independent and fulfilling lives. Some independently and others require more assistance with daily living activities. Hey, we all get by with a little help from our friends, don’t we?
Some adults with Down Syndrome are employed in a variety of settings, including retail, food service, and office jobs. Others may engage in volunteer work or attend day programs like BrightStone that provide structured activities and social opportunities. Some may also live independently, with roommates or in a group home setting, while others may require more support in their living arrangements.
In addition to work and living arrangements, adults with Down Syndrome can participate in a range of leisure activities, such as sports, music, art, and community events. Many organizations and support groups exist to help adults with Down Syndrome and their families navigate the challenges of daily living and ensure that they have access to the resources they need to live a full life.
